Can CBD lead to younger, healthier skin?

While many people enjoy getting older and all the wisdom and benefits that come with aging, most people would prefer to look younger than their birth certificate age.

Because here’s the thing…

Looking younger can improve more than just your looks. A 2013 study found that employing anti-aging strategies can improve more for you than looks, it can also improve your self-esteem. Josh Klapow, Ph.D., associate professor in the UAB School of Public Health and a psychologist is quoted as saying…“Outward appearance can have a significant impact on a person’s self-esteem, so ‘looking better’ both in one’s own eyes and in the eyes of others can add to self-esteem.”

Let’s look at how CBD is thought to improve the health of your skin…

CBD may relieve stress

A 2011 study found that people who took CBD (compared to people who took a placebo) reportedly experienced less stress. A 2012 study published in the Journal PLOS ONE revealed that job stress shortens the telomeres (telomeres are the caps at the end of each strand of DNA that protect our chromosomes) in your DNA. When the telomeres become too short, they become damaged, and you risk them regenerating less healthy cells or your cells may even die.

CBD could improve your sleep

A study conducted at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center (commissioned by Estee Lauder) found the poor sleeper showed increased signs of skin aging. The leader of the research team, Dr. Elma Baron said, “Our study is the first to conclusively demonstrate that inadequate sleep is correlated with reduced skin health and accelerates skin aging. Sleep-deprived women show signs of premature skin aging and a decrease in their skin’s ability to recover after sun exposure. Insufficient sleep has become a worldwide epidemic.” CBD is thought to help control our endocannabinoid system, which regulates our mood, pain, and other biological processes–all things that have an impact on how much sleep you get each night.

CBD has been shown to improve blood circulation

Good blood circulation improves the health of your cells and reduces skin discoloration. A study published by the Journal of Clinical Investigations (June 2017) found that “CBD is a vasodilator, which means it makes your arteries and blood vessels wider, allowing for greater blood flow with less pressure.”

CBD is thought to destroy free radicals

Research has shown that CBD helps ease the damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals are defined as “toxic by-products of oxygen metabolism that can cause significant damage to living tissues in a process called “oxidative stress.” Free radicals also damage DNA and protein cross-linking which over time cause increased aging.

CBD may increase collagen production

Research has shown that CBD may aid with the production of collagen which may help lessen the visible signs of aging skin such as wrinkles, skin dullness, and ruddy skin tone. Collagen promotes vibrant skin.

Many people take a two-pronged approach when it comes to using CBD to improve the glow of their skin. They use a CBD topical to moisturize and invigorate their skin, plus they use CBD Oil, CBD capsules, and CBD gummies to take CBD internally. While looking great is wonderful, the added boost of confidence you get from knowing you look good is irreplaceable.
